Thai Breakfast

Barbecue pots and a gas stove top
The meal proceeds from start to stop
Pots and pans outside in big tubs
My arms to the elbows covered in suds

Smoke from the fires keep the insects at bay
As we take on the first task of the day
Fresh leaves from the garden chosen with care
Sure to bring flavour to this mornings fare

From underfoot chickens scatter all around
Fighting for scraps dropped on the ground
Cats and dogs wait for their chance
Patience their reward when they dance this dance

Walking about on tiring legs
From around the yard we collect fresh eggs
Breakfast is prepared as it is always done
Together we cook neath the morn sun
