Morning walk

A small stream chatters
in the quiet of a still morn
cascades along it’s way

the final destination
rushes around the rocks
enters the pond

reflections in the water
man made and natural
together creating beauty

trees adorned in colour
Autumn’s glory on display
the beginning of the day

fresh and clean
shrubs bathed in dew
a site to share

bathed in shadow
this forest floor
life speaks here

a carpet of gold
below it’s former host
fleeting this beauty

natures Christmas tinsel
lichen adorns this dying tree
a last hurrah

Author Notes

This series of haiku I wrote on a recent Ginko walk in our Japanese gardens
