Oh beautiful moon

From heaven above

You cross our sky

For lovers to love

To chase the sun

Forever your quest

With silver light

You give your best

As I watch you

With pure delight

I pause to think

Do you know your plight

Your pull on the tides

A gentle embrace

As the oceans dance

We gaze on your face

Our lives you share

From up on high

Blessed are we

For our pearl in the sky

The pearl reference, at the end delighted me. Love the comparison of the moon to a pearl. This poem feels lyrical to me, as if it could be a song… Reminds me of a Robert Frost poem from a song cycle titled “Frostiana” by Randall Thompson. The poem is Choose Something like a Star. Take a listen. 🙂

Write On!

Thanks Becky I love Frost so will look that up. The style is an ode and even though the 2nd and 4th lines dont have to always rhyme for an ode, I believe by doing it in this way it definitely gives it a lyrical feel cheers
