A Trip to the Dentist

It’s off to the dentist today
With dread I count the hours down
Pain I know will be on the way
My fate awaits across the town

With dread I count the hours down
Destined today a tooth to lose
My fate awaits across the town
The dentists choice not mine to choose

Destined today a tooth to lose
Like the condemned I sit and wait
The dentist’s choice not mine to choose
The outcome ahead my one fate

Like the condemned I sit and wait
Pain I know will be on the way
The outcome ahead my one fate
It’s off to the dentist today

“Like the condemned I sit and wait,” makes me think of a prisoner on death row. Some people might prefer the electric chair over a dentist chair, lol. Your word choice makes it clear how frightful the dentist can be for some. Nice work

Good morning, Craig

You’ve captured the trials and tribulations one anticipates with a visit to the Dentist. I guess I’m the oddball . . . I don’t dread a dentists appointment. Liked the repeating lines in each stanza. Enjoyed read your poem.

Take care and stay safe,

Ray
